2009 Kentucky Derby On-line Ticketing Rules
1. Churchill Downs Incorporated will conduct three separate drawings for the opportunity to purchase 2009 Kentucky Oaks and 2009 Kentucky Derby tickets. All three drawings will be held on the same date, January 29, 2009.
2. Applications for the opportunity to purchase 2009 Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby tickets will be taken at www.churchilldowns.com, www.kentuckyderby.com and www.twinspiresclub.com.
3. All applicants are encouraged to be Twin Spires Club members. Twin Spires Club members who apply and earn over 15,000 points during the evaluation period increase their chances for the opportunity to purchase tickets since they will be eligible for the drawings where a greater percentage of tickets are available. Membership in the Twin Spires Club is free to join. No purchase necessary.
4. On-line Ticketing is open to legal residents of the United States, age 18 or older, except where restricted or prohibited. Contest is not open to employees of Churchill Downs and its subsidiaries, contractors, advertising agency, racing officials and their immediate family members.
5. On January 26, 2009 an allotment of approximately 1,800 of 2009 Kentucky Oaks and 1,800 of 2009 Kentucky Derby tickets will be preserved by Churchill Downs Incorporated's invitation for its Twin Spires Club members to purchase tickets through an on-line application process.
6. The first random drawing will consist of 60% of the allotted Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby tickets for all Twin Spires Club members who have applied through the online ticketing process at www.churchilldowns.com, www.kentuckyderby.com or www.twinspiresclub.com and have earned more than 30,000 Twin Spires Club points during the evaluation period.
7. The second random drawing will consist of 25% of the allotted Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby tickets. All Twin Spires Club members who have applied through the online ticketing process at www.churchilldowns.com, www.kentuckyderby.com or www.twinspiresclub.com and have earned more than 15,000 Twin Spires Club points during the evaluation period AND were NOT selected in random Drawing #1 will be eligible in random Drawing #2.
8. The third random drawing will consist of 15% of the remaining allotted Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby tickets. All applicants who have applied through the online ticketing process at www.churchilldowns.com, www.kentuckyderby.com or www.twinspiresclub.com regardless if they are a Twin Spires Club member or not, and were not selected in random Drawings #1 or #2 are eligible to be entered into random Drawing #3.
9. All three drawings will be conducted in January 2009 (exact date to be announced). All three drawings will be random drawings from all eligible registrants and will be held at Churchill Downs.
10. Any Twin Spires Club member who applied through the online ticketing process who has earned over 30,000 Twin Spires Club points will have the opportunity to purchase up to four (4)Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby tickets if selected in any of the three separate drawings, or through the waiting list. All others selected in random Drawing #2 and #3, or from the waiting list, will have the opportunity to purchase two (2) Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby tickets.
11. The only notice each of the winning entries in each of the random drawings will receive is an invoice from Churchill Downs for 2009 Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby tickets. Payment must be received by Churchill Downs within the time specified on the invoice. Any payment not timely received by Churchill Downs will be deemed unclaimed by the winner and all tickets will be returned to the allotment for the waiting list.
12. A waiting list will be established for those not selected in any of the three separate random drawings for any additional Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby tickets that may become available. The ranking order of the waiting list will be established by how many Twin Spires Club points a member has earned during the evaluation period. The member with the most earned points during the evaluation period will be notified by receiving an invoice from Churchill Downs via US Mail if tickets should become available. The opportunity to purchase tickets will be extended to the next eligible applicant on the waiting list until all tickets in the allotment have been offered for sale and purchased.
13. All Twin Spires Club members selected for the opportunity to purchase tickets through any of the three drawings or the wait list process must purchase an equal number of Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby tickets. No exceptions.
14. Tickets not paid for in full by the due date on the 2009 Kentucky Derby ticket invoice will be offered to the next eligible applicant from the waiting list.
15. The evaluation period for earning Twin Spires Club points counting toward the total needed to qualify for the above drawings is January 1, 2008 through November 30, 2008.
16. The deadline for applying for 2009 Kentucky Derby and Oaks tickets is 11:59 p.m. ET on November 30, 2008.
Decisions of the judges and officials of Churchill Downs is final.
